Abdella’s work reckons with the horror and melancholy of the American dream. Blurring the lines between painting, sculpture, and assemblage, Abdella utilizes a number of techniques to create hyperrealist, mixed-media works. Abdella works with acrylic, resin, fiberglass, and other materials and incorporates a variety of found objects such as wigs, magic 8 balls, fake flowers, 3D hologram fans, and Christmas decorations, playing on the illusionistic depth in his scenes.
Trey Abdella (b. 1994) received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts and his MFA at the New York Academy of Art. Abdella lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
